Any Relation to Capt. James COOKE?

My grandmother always said that she was related to Capt. Jame Cooke, of Hawaii fame. However, no one has every been able to prove (or disprove) this. I know how stroies sometimes get started and take on a life of their own, but I thought it might be fun to try to check this one out. I can trace my family back to Aaron Cooke (1689-1759), in CT. I actually have a bit of info a little earlier than this, but I figured this Aaron would probably be a contemporary of Capt. James' parents. Does anyone have any info on the descendants of Capt. James?
