It seems that many people are always trying to find the link back to England for Mordecai Cooke. I won't try to confuse anyone, but the last British Mordecai Cubitt Cooke (to my knowledge) was my great-granduncle who was born on July 12, 1825 in Horning, Norfolk, England, and died on November 12, 1914 in Southsea, Portsmouth, England. He was a famous mycologist who wrote a number of books, some of which are still in print.

His father, Mordecai Cooke was born in 1799 in Horning, Norfolk, England, and married Mary Cubitt who was born on December 22, 1803 They were married on August 15, 1824 in St. Peter Parmentergate Church, King Street, Norwich, Norfolk, England. Mordecai Cooke died on December 2, 1869, and Mary Cubitt Cooke on August 14, 1885 and they are both buried in the Neatishead Baptist Chapel Cemetery in Neatishead, Norfolk, England.

Mordecai Cooke (1799) father was Clement Cooke and Clement Cooke's father was a William Cooke. I don't know their birthdates or deaths.
