According to the "Mayflower Families Through Five Generations" Vol. Twelve on Francis Cooke, "Francis Cooke's youth is entirely unknown to us; he was a young man of about 20 when he first appeared in Leyden records in 1603, described as a woolcomber from England." and "No birth record has been found for Francis Cooke, nor has either a birth or death record been found for Hester (Mahieu) Cooke."
