Doyce,
Here's what I have for William's ancestors.

William Cooke, b. 1740 in Orange County, Virginia, d. 1821 in Louisa County, Virginia.
William, son of Mordecai and Ann Day Cooke was reared in Spottsylvania by his uncle John Day. He lived in Louisa near Little River, close to Buckner. He was pastor of Little River Baptist Church for many years. He married three times. I do not know the name of his first wife. We are descended from his second wife Ann Nelson.

Mordecai Cooke, b. 1714 in Gloucester County, Virginia, m. Ann Day abt. 1740 in Orange County, Virginia.
Mordecai Cooke was reared in Gloucester, but moved to the upper country (Orange County, VA) in early life, where he married.
Ann Day, b. abt. 1718. She was the daughter of John Day and the granddaughter of Lewis Day.

Mordecai's father was Giles Cooke. Giles was born in 1666 in Gloucester County, Virginia. He married someone with last name of Buckner 1713 in Orange County, Virginia. Giles and Unknown Buckner had 5 children:

Giles
Mordecai b. 1714 married Ann Day
Thomas
John
Daniel

Giles' parents were Mordecai Cooke and Susannah Thresher. Mordecai was born in 1629 in England, and died 1667 in Gloucester County, Virginia. His wife, Susannah was born about 1625, but I'm not sure where. They were married about 1648 in Gloucester County, Virginia. This is the Mordecai Cooke of "Mordecai's Mount" in Gloucester County, Virginia. He came to Elizabeth City County, Virginia from England about 1640. Mordecai and Susannah had 5 children:

John
Elizabeth m. Richard Buckner
Mordecai m. Frances Ironmonger
Giles b. 1666
Thomas b. abt. 1650

Mordecai's father was Giles Cooke, b. July 5, 1607 in Bedfordshire, England.

This is what I have so far. It's an ongoing process looking for this line and figuring out who's who, since every grandson is named after his grandfather!
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me with anything else.
