Joab Cook, Saratoga District, Albany Co., NY 1779
I am seeking genealogical data on the JOAB COOK, who lived in the Saratoga District of Albany County, New York in 1779.
JOAB COOK's personal property was assessed at $10.00 (Continental dollars) on the October 23, 1779 Saratoga District Tax List.That leads me to conclude that he was a single man who owned a considerable moveable property.
The Saratoga District of Albany County, NY included the present day towns of Stillwater, Saratoga, Northumberland and Moreau in Saratoga County, NY and the present day towns of Ft. Edward, Greenwich and Easton in Washington County, NY.
JOAB COOK served in the 13th Regiment of the Albany County Militia.He received bounty land for his military service, which he conveyed to Jeremiah Van Rensselear.
JOAB COOK signed the 1778-Saratoga District Petition to New York Governor George Clinton requesting that additional troops be deployed to defend the northern frontier.
JOAB COOK also signed the 1779-Saratoga District Petition to New York Governor George Clinton requesting permission to take wheat flour to Boston in order to purchase salt.
Is JOAB COOK related to any of the other men who lived in the Saratoga District of Albany County, NY in 1779?Their names were:
1.Benjamin Cook, son of Ebenezer Cook;
2.Ebenezer Cook, who married (1) Catherine Leonard and (2) Elizabeth Wing;
3.John Cook (1753-1817); and,
4.Samuel Cook (1750-1824), son of Ebenezer Cook.
