Hi Deborah, I'm not related to this family, just trying to find them for you. Here's what I have so far. Henry was first married to Sarah and they had Fanny Philena ca 1848 IL. Sarah must have died. Henry then married Margaret Elizabeth Howe in 1857.
I have tried to find the parents of Henry, but have not been successful. On the 1860 census, John Cook is living with Henry. He was age 77 from CT.
They only John Cook I could find on the 1850 census fitting this John was John Y who was living with Nelson in Rock Island Co., IL.
In looking at the map of IL, Perry County was at the bottom of the state and Rock Island was at the top. Lee County is just a couple of counties from Rock Island.
You'll see my notes with the census records below.
It looks like they may have just passed through NY on their way to IL. If the family on Henry is the John, it appreas that the Cooks came to IL ca 1820s.
