I do not have any info on your William, however in Rush Co., IN ca 1820's a Jesse Cook settled from that area of NC. He was married to Prudence Cranor. I have 3 children listed for them, but am sure there were probably more. One of his sons, John C. Cook is often confused with my John M. Cook. They both lived in Rush Co, IN but in different townships. Many Cook's moved to Wayne Co., IN and my John M. actually died in Wayne Co (he was living with one of his sons when he died).
Separating the two John's was very hard but I do have the 12 (out of 15) children born to my John & Mary Ann Cook. The other 3 children did not live to adulthood.
John C Cook married Elizabeth Sullivan, and I show 14 children to them. Siblings of John C. that I have are Prudence Cook and Phoebe Cook, but like I said, there were probably more.
Perhaps your William is connected to Jesse Cook.
Sharon
