For those who are looking James Harrison Cook born Sep 26, 1840 in Huron Co., Ohio. Son of Aaron Cook and Rachel Pettis, husband of Velora Bryant I have found him at last.
James Harrison Cook lived in Bremer Co., Iowa until after his wife Velora died the 2nd of Oct. 1900 and then vanished from the face of the earth there is good news. I have found him.
When he left Iowa it is possible the he first went to Wisconsin where his sister and her family lived and either traveled with them or we later to the state of Washington. His sister Emily Cook married Milton Maine. I have found the Maine's and James Harrison Cook in White Salmon, Klickatat Co., Washington where he died. His sister and family are said to have moved south to Oregon.
James H. Cook died 20 Oct 1905 in White Salmon, Klickatat Co., Washington and is buried in Pioneer Cemetery there.
His obituary in The Hood River Glacier, Hood River, Oregon dated 26 Oct 1905 page 7
"Many Strangers at White Salmon"
"Harrison Cook, familiarly known as Uncle Harrison died Sunday evening at 5 o'clock from an acute attack of dysentry and was buried in the churchyard cemetery Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Mr. Cook was 65 years of age at the time of his death, and was greatly loved by all for his gentleness and his unfaliling kindness and was a great favorite of the children. Mr. Cook came here about three years ago from Iowa. He was the brother of Mrs Maine and has children living in Iowa."
This James Harrison Cook was my great grandfather.
