Mrs. Amos Cook, Aurora, Ill., hosts party, 1901
St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, Aug. 30, 1901: Her Eighty-Seventh Birthday (Aurora News, 22d inst.) Mrs. A. R. Cook entertained on Tuesday in honor of the birthday of her mother who resides with her. Grandma, as she is known to her many friends, was 87 on that day and is in remarkably good health for a lady of her age. She welcomed her guests with a cordiality and a hearty handshake that was enjoyed by all present. Three of her daughters were present, Mrs. C.S. Francis of 249 South Lake street, Mrs. D.J. Tyler of St. Charles, and Mrs. Seymour Simmons of Evanston. Another daughter was unable to be present. A grand-daughter, Mrs. Harry Covalt, and daughter Bessie were present, making the fourth generation.
Ice cream and cake were served. When the guests departed they wished the worthy lady many returns of her birthday. (Posted as a courtesy, not related.)
