John Cook married Mary McMillian in about 1830 possibly in what was then Mercer County, PA and later became a part of Lawrence County, PA.They had three children; Andrew Jackson Cook (AJC), James Lemon Cook, and Eliza Cook. Eliza married John Morrow of New Castle, PA and died in the early 1900s and is buried in New Castle.James appears to have died before Eliza and lived in Beaver County, PA.AJC moved to Iowa in the early 1860s and married Martha Matilda Belknap in about 1862 and then marched with Sherman to the sea with company B of the 2nd Iowa Infantry.John may have died about 1840 and there is a family belief that Mary may have married a John Shuler in about 1845 and had several children with him, one of which is David Shuler. There is some evidence that John Cook the son or grandson of Joshua Cook of Mercer County, PA and that Mary McMillian is the daughter or grand daughter of Daniel McMillian of that vacinity.I am looking for information to determine the ancestry of John and Mary and to confirm or disafirm the relationship of John to Joshua and Mary to Daniel. Please email me at [email protected] since I rarely visit this site.
