Hi Jan,
It does sound like a different family, but still yet our Stephen Cook, born abt 1752 in Southampton, Suffolk, NY, died 1844, but lived most of his life in Morris County, NJ.In his will Hanover, Morris, NJ is listed as his place of death.I think he is probably buried, also, in the Hanover Cemetery as I do not find him in the records of the Morristown Presbyterian Church.Possibly his 1st wife is also buried in the Hanover Cemetery, her name was Sarah Havens Cook, and she died before 1790.I did find what I thought was some of their children in the Morristown Presbyterian Church records.Stephen had a number of children,In his 1st marriage they had sons Constant Cook, b. abt 1774, Abraham Cook, b 1775, he had 3 daughters, one named Sybil, one named Martha, and the last Harriet. His 2nd marriage, they had sons Amos Halsey Cook, John Mitchell Cook, Stephen Burnet Cook, Elias Cook and James Cook. This John Mitchell Cook, married Mary Tuttle. So not your line exactly might be related somewhere though.
