According to info I have seen, Jane Cook (1759-1845) was the daughter of William Cook and Jane Strayhorn.Jane Cook married Samuel Emory Davis in 1783 in SC. In "The Life of Jefferson Davis" Jefferson Davis states that his father, Samuel Emory Davis, served in the Revolution. In SC he met Jane Cook and married her after the war. They lived near Augusta, GA, where they had a farm, then moved to Mississippi.Jane is buried at Rosemont in Woodville in Wilkinson Co, Mississippi.I am trying to trace my line through Jane Cook's brother William, who, according to family lore served under General Nathaniel Greene, and came to Maury County, TN, to settle, we have heard, on land granted to Gen Greene. We are assuming there would have been a family connection if they were permitted to settle on the land.We are trying to piece this together as well.If you can help me, please email [email protected]'ll gladly share what I have with you.
