Hi
To the best of my knowledge my family settled in Queensland near Brisbane after immigrating from Ireland in the mid 1800's, I don't have a clue about the date although after looking through military records from World War 1, I discovered a Patrick Coogan who was born in Kilkenny. His mother is listed as his next of kin her name was Alice. My grandfather and at least one of his brothers were also soldiers during WW1, and it is my guess that he was my grandfather's uncle and that he came to Australia with his parents. My father, and his father were both Andrew Joseph Coogan. My Great Grandfather was also Andrew however I am uncertain as to whether his second name was Joseph. As with so many of these postings there is a remarkable repetition of Christian names, for example my fathers brothers were Patrick and Daniel, his sisters, Valerie, Margaret and Mary his uncles were Patrick, Daniel and Thomas. This appears to be a definate pattern.Unfortunately my father and his siblings with the exception of one aunt are now all deceased, and I would like to not lose this family history.
By the way, Hi from Australia
