I am trying to find out information about my grandfather who was Owen Joseph Coogan. He immigrated to New York City through Ellis Island on April 17, 1923. The ship he sailed on was the Assyria and it left from Glasgow, Scotland, but my grandfather was Irish. On the Assyria with him was his mother Linda Coogan (34 years old), Brother Edward Coogan (8 years Old), Brother Alfonso Coogan (8 months old), Sister Margaret (5 years old), and Sister, Sarah (2 years old). In the 1930's he left New York City and worked in the CCC in Western New York near Buffalo, NY. He met and married my grandmother Jenny Swartz outside Buffalo, NY in a town called Marilla, NY. Their children are Robert Owen Coogan, Linda Coogan, Donna Fox, and Mary Ann Van Ornum. Owen Coogan (my grandfather) died in the late 1950's due to a heart attack. When he died the contact with the family in New York City started to end. Does anyone know any information about my grandfather and the rest of the Coogan family? Are they living in NYC? Where in Ireland was the family from? Sincerely, Keith Van Ornum
