Hi Darlene: My name is Jim Conway and I live in Upstate NY. My g-g-grandfather, William Conway emigrated to the US from Co. Mayo around 1849-1855. He married a Mary Mulholland in Ireland before emigrating to the US. Do you have any info as to where the Conways roots in Ireland were?
While in Ireland a few years ago, I met a local historian in Westport, Co Mayo who told me the Conway"s were booted out of Donegal before settling in Mayo. He was Roman Catholic and not much info is available. I don't know if he came to the states thru Canada or directly to a US city. Thanks!
