Hi Duane,
Very busy at the moment, Melbourne Cup, the boys Christmas Concerts to arrange and end of year coming up very fast.
Managed to grab a bit of time now though.
Found the following on the IGI,
Household Record - 1880 United States Census

Notice the spelling of the surname. This is probably because the census taker is spelling it as he heard it and not as it is actually spelt.
As you can see the family must have gone to Michigan c1874 as Thomas J Darcy is 6 years old in the census.
Are any of the children new to you?
Your info shows they were married clear across the state from where they lived.
Perhaps these two ran away to get married.
You say you don't have any info because your mother was catholic and your Dad's family would not have anything to do with them.
Maybe they had the same sort of issues.
Must go for now but I will get back to you.
Bye
