Hello Kathleen, with ancestors along your maternal line in Mexico feel free to have your mtdna tested. It's just that while you will learn your ancient maternal origins it is harder to determine your more recent family relationships.

If you know your DNA markers I can post them in the Mexico project. It doesn't matter what Genealogical DNA company you get your results from the markers will be the same values. I can post whatever you would like to share that would help us determine our origins and family relationships.
