I have been pushing this name for genforum for a while now and am finally glad to see it here!!!!
My info as well is limited. My Conte's came from Tirello (?), Compobasso, Italy. Pietro (my ggrandfather), Nick, and Pasquale came over around the turn of this century to Ellis Island. I don't know the name of the ship. Pietro later went on to Monongah, WVA (Marion Co.) His 2 brothers went to NJ and Nick eventually went back to Italy. Pietro's wife was Albina DePlacito, both born in the late 1800's. My grandfather was the youngest child, born 1928. Both Pietro and Albina died and 1939. This is all the info I have save all the names of the children. My grandfather is the only child of their's still living. The immigrations office messed the name up, changing it from CONTI/CONTE to CONDO.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
