Martin Thomas Considine - As superintendent of police in Niagra Falls, Martin Thomas Considine occupies a position of leadership and distinction in his home city.

Mr. Considine was born June 16, 1893 in Niagara Falls, New York, son of Patrick and Bridget (Moakler) Considine. His father, a railroad man, associated for years with the New York Central Railroad, died in the performance of his duty, June 24, 1908. He was a Democrat and a member of the Sacred Heart Church. His birthplace was in County Clare, Ireland. Martin T. Considine's two brothers are: John J. Considine, who lost his left leg in 1905, and James Considine, who lost his right leg in 1908. (employed by the United States Customs service).

The Sacred Heart Parochial School, in Niagara Falls, provided Martin Thomas Considine's early formal education, and afterward he had specialized training at the National Police Academy, Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Department of Justice. In 1908 he became associated with the New York Central Railroad, with which he continued for many years. In 1922 and 1923 he served in the maintenance department of the United States Light & Heat Company. In July, 1923, he came to Niagara Falls police department as a patrolman in the local police bureau. In 1930 he was promoted to detective sergeant. In 1942 he became chief of detectives, and on February 8, 1943,he assumed the office of superintendent of police, the post that he continues to hold to the time of writing.

A Republican in his partisan views, he has many affliiations and interests. He is a member of the Rotary Club, belongs to the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and since 1897 has been affiliated with the Sacred Heart Church of the Roman Catholic faith. He is a devoteeof sports, particularly baseball.

Martin Thomas Considine married, June 28, 1916, in Rochester, New York, Mildred Helm, daughter of Horace and Lola (Bennett) Helm. They became the parents of the following children, all of whom attended the Sacred Heart Parochial School and Niagara Falls High School: 1. Martina, born April 28, 1917, became the wife of Clarence Kimmes, who is connected with E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company; they have one child, Carol Kimmes. 2. Robert M., born November 8, 1920, graduated from the Trapp Vocational School, associated at the time of writing with the medical unit of the United States Army Bombing Squadron in England. 3. Marie, born September 18, 1923, an interest teller with the North End Branch of Power City Trust Company. 4. Lois, born September 18, 1929, a student at North Junior High School at the time of writing.
