Hi Maeve,

I'm what you might call a “double Mullin: my mum's Mullins come from Foremass (Lower) and are known as the “Atty” Mullins wheras my dad's Mullins came from Omagh so don't have a nickname that I'm aware of. Yes I've heard of the 'Bard,' Harley, Hamish, Jack and Yarrie Mullins too! Somewhere along the line they would all be related if you could go way back to at least the 17th century but unfortunately the records don't go back that far!

How far back does your Mullins go? On the 'Atty' Mullins, I'm only back to my great-great-grandfather Arthur Mullin, who married Mary Skeffington.

I noticed that your earliest ancestor in the Conroy line is Terence Conroy, the father of Daniel (b 1809 d 1874), have you a birth or death year for Terence?

Here's how my family tree may tie in with yours:

Terry McCann (1823-1889) m. Jennie (Phaddely) Kelly (1836-1910) – these are my great-great-great-grandparents. They had the following family of eight:
1.Mary McCann (1861-1890) m. Simon Devlin (1837-1917) [my great-great-grandparents]; 3 children: John (1887-?), Ellen (1888-1969) [my great-grandmother] & Mark (1890-1953.
2.'Big' Pat McCann (1862-1934) m.1st Brigid Conway (1867-1889); 1 son: 'Wee' Mick (1889-1935). Big Pat m.2nd Kate Conroy (1872-1928); 7 children: 'Wee' Pat (1894-1972), Mary Jane (1896-1955), Kate-Ann (1899-?), Bridget (1901-?), Lizzie (1904-1948), 'Big' Terry (1907-1969) & Nellie (1910-?).
3.Jane McCann (1864-1944) m. Jim (Mellon) McDermott (1848-1897); 6 children: Mary (1885-1967), Joanna (1887-1946), Margaret (1888-1953), John (1892-1901), James (1895-1951) & Sarah (1897-1979).
4.Terry McCann (1867-?) m. Mame Logan; no children.
5.Kate McCann (1869-1906) m. Tom Conroy (1857-1934); 6 children: Jane (1892-1962), Bridget (1894-?), Paddy (1895-1965), Kate (1897-1980), Annie (1901-?) & Nellie (1906-1945).
6.John McCann (1871-?) m. Bridget McCormick (1873-1934); 3 children: Mary (1903-1992), Katherine (1904-2000) & Sue (1910-1995).
7.'Big' Mick McCann (1874-?) m. Maggie (Dennis) Mullin (1884-?); 8 children: 'Big' John (1908-1993), Mary Jane (1910-?), Joe (1912-?), Maggie (1914-2003), Bridget (1916-1985), Kate (1918-2003), Annie (1921-2001) & Nellie (1924-1991).
8.Brigid McCann (1877-1915) m. Hugh Boyle (1864-1934); 8 children: Mary (1898-1972), Sarah (1899-?), Margaret Jane (1900-1901), Hugh (1902-1904), Johnny (1902-1986), Patrick (1905-1905), Nellie (1908-1975) & Terence (1909-1911).

Kate Conroy – the second wife of Big Pat McCann – was a sister of Tom Conroy who married Kate McCann, Big Pat's sister. Here's more information on their family:

Patrick Conroy (1812-1892) m. Catherine McCrory (1829-?)
1.John Conroy (1854-?)
2.Tom Conroy (1857-1934) m. Kate McCann (1869-1906); 6 children: Jane (1892-1962), Bridget (1894-?), Paddy (1895-1965), Kate (1897-1980), Annie (1901-?) & Nellie (1906-1945).
3.Sarah Conroy (1860-?)
4.Patrick Conroy (1861-?)
5.Mary Anne Conroy (1864-?)
6.Terence Conroy (1865-?)
7.Daniel Conroy (1869-?)
8.Kate Conroy (1872-1928) m. 'Big' Pat McCann (1862-1934); 7 children: 'Wee' Pat (1894-1972), Mary Jane (1896-1955), Kate-Ann (1899-?), Bridget (1901-?), Lizzie (1904-1948), 'Big' Terry (1907-1969) & Nellie (1910-?).

There's a possibility that Patrick Conroy (1812-1892) may have been a brother of your great-grandfather Daniel Conroy. The naming pattern gives a clue: Patrick had sons called Patrick, Terence and Daniel. Also, there was an estimated three years difference between Patrick's and Daniel's birth years.

Joseph
