I just read the message you posted on May 12, 1998. I have been searching for my husband's family line from Ballinrobe, County Mayo, Ireland. The family had a farm just outside Ballinrobe. Unfotunately all church records were destroyed in a fire in 1847. I recently made a connection to my husband's g-grandfather who immigrated from Ireland around 1858-1860 to escape the potato famine. His name was Patrick CONROY born 1833 in Ballinrobe. I believe he married Elisabeth GIBBONS; however don't know if they married in Ireland or in New York. There are CONROY and GIBBONS grave stones in the cemetery in Ballinrobe. They are across the aisle from each other. Patrick and Elisabeth had nine children. The first three were born in New York; the remaining six were born in the Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan area. The following information was gleaned from the 1880 Michigan Census. I have listed the estimated year of birth in (). I have further verification of Patrick and Elisabeth's birthdates from the 1900 Michigan Census. Patrick Conroy, White, Male, Age 47 (April 1833) b in Ireland. Living in Calhoun Cty, Marshal Twp. My husband's grandfather was James* P. CONROY b May 1870 in Battle Creek, Calhoun Cty, Michigan. He married Anna R. REYNOLDS, b August 1875 in Battle Creek, MI. They were married sometime around 1900 because they are listed as man and wife in the 1900 MI Census. They moved to East Orange, Essex Cty, NJ after 1900 where two children were born to them: Leola Elizabeth CONROY, b 15 Sept 1904 and Alfred Richard Conroy, b 29 Nov 1909. I do not have information about the siblings of James P. CONROY. Would very much like to find descendants of all of these children. I would be thrilled to find the family line in Ireland. If this information fits with your records, please let me know. Thank you very much. Mrs. Alfred Richard Conroy, Jr. (Lonna Jean) http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/c/o/n/Lonna-J-Conroy/
