Looking for Wilson R. Conrad, Drummer Boy
Posted by: James R Conrad, ggs of Joseph H. Conrad Date: May 07, 1998 at 23:35:01

I am looking for any information about Wilson R. Conrad, son of Urias Conrad, was born 3/5/1850 and was the brother of Joseph H. and James Conrad. Urias was born in Bedford County, PA, and moved his family to Western Virginia that later became WV. Family tradition is that Wilson lied about his age and enlisted as a drummer boy, in the American Civil War against the wishes of his family. He may have left home with instructions to never return and a warning that he'd be disowned. Joseph H. and/or James may have met Wilson following the war at the Grand Review of the Army in Washington DC. Wilson is said to have refused to go home with them. His parents searched for him for years without success. He was never heard from again. We've kept your name alive for 148 years, and we're still looking.
