I am a decendant of Jacob and Mary Coonrod.
They were born in Germany according to a census recorded in the Daviess County 1850 census. (Kentucky)
It says Jacob Coonrod was born in 1808 and Mary Coonrod was born in 1819. Their children were, George W., Francis, Elizabeth A., and Jacob. I am from the line of George W. Conrad.
The reason I have learned of the changing of spelling of last names was that foreigners changed the pronouncian of their name to avoid perscution because of being foreigners.
I too, have been searching for the siblings of my great, great, grandfather, George W. Conrad.
Most of our people lived in Kentucky, some in Missouri. Seems Jacob and Mary first went to Missouri, where their children were born, and then, George W. ended up in western Kentucky. I have no idea about the other siblings.
Can you help with any information?
Karen Conrad Duvall
