I would like to think each name stayed with a pure spelling--- BUT we all know that is not true. I too found Emma Belle Goodin's info in the DAR books. Her spelling of her mother's maiden name (CONNATT) differs from my CONNETT.So likely as not there probably are other forms of CONOVER like COVENHOVEN.
According to this posting he was born 20 years after my Julia (CONNETT) FREDERICK b.1818, Garret VANDERVEER CONOVER. It would seem that Bound Brook, Sommerset Co., New Jersey, may have been a collection point for this part of the family.
Open for all possibilities.
