Carolyn, I think this is interesting. Could Garret have named one of his daughters after "your" Aletta? How could Aletta have been related?
Also, I found the DAR Index referred Conover to COVENHOVEN.
Could Aletta's name be Covenhoven. There are many patriots in the DAR file who lived in NJ by the name of COVENHOVEN. It may be another avenue to search.
