I responded to you on January 2, 2005. If you sent me a direct email after that, I don't think I received it. Please send it again.

Do you think there is a connection between our families? I can not find any relatives from Canada or Minnesota in our line, but perhaps we are linked back in New York/New Jersey.

Our descendant Furman (also Furnand, Firmin, Firman) D. Conover moved from Pennsylvania (where he was born in 1820) to Seneca, New York, where he married (1855) and had our ancester, George Thomas Conover (b 1859). Then he moved his family to Michigan (after 1859) and later (prior to 1885) to Dickey, North Dakota. My grandfather was born (1893)in Dickey, N.D. He married my grandmother in Jackson, Michigan (1915) and must have returned to North Dakota because my father was born in North Dakota (1916). Then he must have moved the family back to Michigan after 1916 because my father grew up in Jackson, MI.

Furman's parents were William Conover (b 1792, NJ) and Electa Furman (abt 1792, MA). There was an older brother William (b. 1818) and a younger sister, Susan Jane (b. 1825)but they both ended up in Jackson, Michigan, along with Furman. Electa moved there too and is buried in Michigan (d (1865).

I have been unable to find William's parents or other siblings. There are so many William Conovers in and from NJ and NY! I have hunch we may be connected to the remaining Conover line in Bradford, PA,and to the Covert, Seneca, NY, Conovers, (where some of the Bradford Conovers came from) but can not make a direct connection.

Let me know if you or anyone else has information that might help me in my search.

The book "Conover: Pioneers and Pilgrims" traces the Conovers through Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois. Does not seem to be my line of Conovers. No mention of Minnesota and Canada Conovers.
