Thanks Robert for your quick response,

On the surface it looks like there may be no connection however when it comes to documents which we get our information from we are aware that accuracy is not always the best so with tongue in cheek as the saying goes I try and read through what I believe to be errors.

That said, it may be possible that Jane was actually born in Ireland and the date of 1829 sounds very possible. I have noticed on some documents which I found that mistakes were made like where people were born and so on.

As far as the name Connors is concerned, I have seen variations which leads me to think the census takers were not altogether accurate by a long way so anyone could guess as to what the spelling should or could be.

In the 1842 census page which I possess from Kitley, there is a Nicholas Connor listed directly above my great grandfather, Samuel and I'm leaning toward the thought that this could be a adult brother of my great grandmother who's maiden name was Connors according to her death certificate.

Now in the 1848 census Nicolas is listed on the same page as Samuel and still living in Kitley and his name is still recorded with out the "s" at the end. I am trying to find out more about him but he seems to have vanished after that census, can't find him in the 1851/52 census in that area. I believe I may have found a marriage record in 1850 that is his but again nothing to confirm this.

I do know that the Connors came from county Wicklow and that they were probably tenants on the Fitzwilliam estate but otherwise nothing else available on Jane except to say that my great grandparents named their second daughter Jane which could be in honour of the Jane we are looking into.

I always like to check the names which children have as the naming patterns in those days were some times helpful because they carried names from one generation to the next.

Sorry I'm not much help

Patrick
