Hi Ellen: These aren't my immediate relations - I am sure my lineage was much further south. However, at some distant point in time, we were all part of the same clan. I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For Hon(ora) Connors B 1893 +/- 4 yrs, Ardrahan parish, with a father named Mic(hael), I found 3 rcds: 2-1890, and 1894. For Pat(rick) Connors B ditto, I found 1 rcd in 1897. For Sarah Connors B 1892 +/- 4 yrs, Co. Galway, with a father forenamed Mic(hael), I found 1 rcd, 1888, Castlegar RC parish. For Ann(e) Connors B ????, ditto, I found 2 possible rcds: 1891 Rahoon RC parish, and 1899 Kilcolgan/Ballindereen. The 2 Ardrahan parish B rcds are highly likely to be for this family. The others are iffy. For Honora Bush M ???? Co. Galway, I found 1 rcd, Kinvara RC parish, 1888. For Mic(hael) Connors M ditto, I found ditto. This and Honora's rcd are likely for these ancestors. A view of the detailed M rcd should show whether they married each other. If so, this validates the rcds. Validated, the rcds SHOULD show their parents' names as well as other info. This is useful in validating their B rcds below. For Honora Bush B 1867 +/- 4 yrs, somewhere in Ireland, with the father's forename unknown, I found 0 rcds. This is a bit strange as church rcds were generally good by this time. Kinvara's B rcds began in 1831. In addition, civil registration began in 1864 and was comprehensive. Civil rcds which survived the 1922 Four Courts fire are kept by the General Register Office. Contact it at http://www.groireland.ie for certificate copies. Fees apply. For Mic(hael) Connors B 1865 +/- 4 yrs, Kinvara parish, Co. Galway, with the father's forename unknown, I found 3 rcds: 1863, 1863, and 1868. The father's forenames were John, Martin, and Martin respectively. For John Connors M 1859 +/- 4 yrs, Co. Galway, I found 10 possible rcds in various parishes, but NONE in Kinvara. For Martin Connors M 1859-1867, Co. Galway, I found 3 rcds: 1863 Lackagh RC parish, 1864 Rahoon RC, and 1865 Athenry CR. This is about as far as I can push your lineage. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps.
