I used pen and paper. For each of the 69 rcds of a yr and county for Thomas, I listed just a yr and the parish once. Example, if the yr was 1861 and the county Limerick appeared 7 times I just wrote 61 Lim once. I repeated this process for all 69 entries. This gave me a set of 20 unique cases.

I then went through the yr and counties for Ellen. If the same yr and county appeared in both the set for Ellen and the set of 20 for Thomas, I circled the entry. When I finished, I had circled 7 instances where the yr and county for Ellen matched the yr and county for Thomas.

The set of 7 represents all the possible cases where a marriage between the two could have occurred.

I am a statistician by trade. Hope this explanation helps.
