I dont know where Michael was living in 1880, but this is the rest of Michael's family in the 1880 Census:

Thomas Oconner 40
Joanna Oconner        40
Mary Oconner        21
Johny Oconner        14
Nellie Oconner        12
Thomas Oconner        10
Charles Oconner        8
Catherine Oconner        2
Margaret Oconner        6

So, Mother and Father both born in Ireland about 1840.
Mary was born in Canada, then the rest of the kids born in the US. They must have migrated to Canada first, then to the US around 1860-65.

Thats all the information I can muster up :(
