Try searching family bibles, tombstones, obits, census, etc to find their parents. Connors most definitely is Irish, but you will have to find the names of those who immigrated. Irish immigration was heaviest from 1840 to 1900. Several million came over during this era. The fact that he had a non-Irish forename usually infers 2nd or 3rd generation Irish-American.

Note, while I have the same forename and surname, there is no relation.
