A biography/family history of Michael Connors is included in "An Illustrated History of the State of Montana", page 128.
Michael was born 11 May 1840, in Limerick, IR, and at age 7, immigrated with his parents to Canada. At age 21, he went to Redwood, San Mateo County, CA, working in the lumber business until 1864 when he went to mine in Iowa City. In March 1866 he went to Montana where he became a successful placer miner, mining Silver Bow Creek, near Butte, Missoula Gulch, and in Deer Lodge Valley. He disposed of his mining interests in 1871 & went to Peace Valley, Alaska, for a short time before returning to the US. He prospected in different places in MT & Canada & mined in NV & AZ until 1876 when he spent a year in the Black Hills, then returned to MT. In Aug 1886, he discovered the Ontario mine, a rich gold and silver mine in Deer Lodge County, MT. In 1891, he disposed of his half interest for a large sum of money and retired to Helena, MT.
On 7 Jun 1893, Helena, MT, Michael married Miss Katherine McAndrews, formerly of Pennsylvania.
