This may help. The info below will keep you busy for days: It is fun. It tells how to get b/m/d details for all parishes for many counties in Ireland. A database for all Ireland is being created by the Irish Family History Foundation (IFHF). Eventually it will cover all Ireland. I don't think your county is on line yet. IFHF is at http://brsgenealogy.com/. I traced my ancestry to Kilcommon, Tipperary, by knowing only the birth year for one child (Catherine) born in Ireland, the names of her parents (Martin Connors and Mary Dwyer), and the estimated year of marriage. The IFHF database(s) gives you records back to about 1800 (it varies among Parishes and Counties). More may be on line in Feb 2008. Search the database(s) using the forename and surname for your emigrating ancestor. Experiment with the IFHF free search; Precision helps. Whittle the "hits" down to a few possibilities by using the screening tools (b/m/d, parish, etc). The IFHF charges 10 euros each to view the final set of hits. Your family history may not be in the IFHF database. For example, at the IFHF website under the "sources" tab, there are foot(head)notes. For Tipperary (north), one note shows that the Archdiocese of Cashel - Emly retained control of the records for a large number of Parishes. Please let me know the results of your search.
