Hi! Don't know if our Connolly line was from Galway or if the name changed from Conneely, but it's certainly possible.
I've been searchin for Hugh Connolly who was born in Ireland about 17 March 1829. He came to America in 1845 as a stowaway and went to Pennsylvania. He served in the Civil War in 1864 after becoming a citizen in 1863.
He married Mary Jane Hamm from York County, Pa.
I have further information from that time till now, but nothing about him prior to arriving in America.
Do you have a Hugh in the family?
Thanks, JS
