I am also researching a John Connolly in Monaghan. Mine was married to Morella Wilson in Clones on 15 May 1846. They had a daughter Elizabeth born in 1847. Could they be related to your family. John and Elizabeth [but not Morella, who may have died] came to Dunedin New Zealand, sometime prior to 1868. I am wishing to find out more about them and the families left back in Ireland -if any!.
