Hello James: I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,800,000 surviving rcds for abt 70% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Co. Donegal and Derry were just added to the database. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For Martin Connolly B 1874 +/- 2 yrs, Co. Galway, with a father forenamed Pat(rick), I found 3 rcds: 2-1872, and 1876. For James Connolly B 1872 ditto, I found 3 rcds: 1870 and 2-1873. For John Connolly B 1870 ditto, I found 9 rcds: 1868, 3-1869, 1870, 1871, and 3-1872. A view of the detailed rcds above MAY show the mother's name was Maria. For Maria Horan M 1868 +/- 2 yrs, somewhere in Ireland, I found 6 rcds: 1865 Mayo Kilmovee RC parish, 1866 Mayo Carracastle RC parish, 1868 Mayo Kilmovee, 1870 Galway (Eyrecourt CP), and 1870 Tipperary. For Pat(rick) Connolly M 1868 ditto, I found 88 rcds. However, only 29 are in the counties of Mayo, Galway, and Tipperary. Further search in these 3 counties at the parish level didn't reveal any matching rcds. You may want to try a different search range. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Notify Administrator about this message?
