The earliest Connolly I can claim is Michael Connolly, who baptised a son John in Leap, Co. Cork, in 1837. I will try to find out if he had any siblings, but the name Hugh does not occur in any of the Connollys of Cork that I have tracked down so far. I'll let you know if I find anything more.
