Family lore has it that....four Conrey/ Connery brothers located in NH went south, but two didn't like it and returned to NH, while the other two stayed. Former descendant judge from Southern line researched this before his death and stated that he had confirmed it. These brothers served in the war and marched into a city with the other soldiers and then were fired upon by surprised. It was a terrible experience and famous in history.
