GFord, I wish there were lineage books on Conners. Most of us could then just cite page and volume on the Internet, instead of asking these basic questions. However, I will mention three I know of: Conners and Allied Families, by Dudley Conner, formerly of Hattiesburg, MS, which traces the line of Uriah Conner, Revolutionary War patriot, b. 1750, down through several generations. It can be found at many state archives and big libraries. It is out-of-print, I believe. Pioneer Days: Stories of the Conner-Roark Ancestry, by Laura Roark Shropshire, formerly of Harrison, TN. This book is still privately printed and is now in the early stages of a revision. It chronicles the descendants of Maximilian Conner, Rev. War patriot b. 1762, and Thomas Palmer, Rev. War patriot, b. 1760, and their Roark kin, who descend from a James Roark of Tazewell County, Va. Most of his family died in a massacre in 1780, and the line then went to Tazewell County, TN. O'Conners-Conner-Simmons Family, by a Julia Simmons, I believe. This small volume chronicles the descendants of John Conner of Spotsylvania, VA., Irish emigrant, and Philemon Kavanaugh. I don't know if it's in print or not. Most state archives have it; the Chattanooga Public Library had a copy when I saw it. There is also a book on the Conners of Indiana and Ohio which I've seen at the Clayton Genealogy Library, Houston, but I don't recall its name. That library is also on-line, and you could check the catalogue listings. Perhaps others reading this message can add family or regional histories that mention Conners. Liz
