Capt. Conner's District-Pulaski, Georgia

Does anybody know who Capt. Conner was in Pulaski, Georgia? On the 1840 census, there is a district called Capt. Conner's. The oldest Conner living in the district at that time is Thomas, age 60-70. I think this would put him at too young of an age to have been in the Revolutionary War. Prior to 1840, there was a James Conner that lived in Capt. Adams District in Pulaski, GA on the 1830 census, he was 40-49 yrs. old and again, too young for the Revolutionary War so probably not THE Captain Conner. If anyone has any ideas of who Capt. Conner was or how I could possibly find out, please let me know. Thanks!
