A friend has James Conner, Jr. as her gr-gr-grandfather. He's from Lincoln/Bulloch Co, GA. Born 30 Aug 1836, m'd Mary Isabella Johnson (b. 24 Feb 1848) on 2 Aug 1865. James died 14 May 1910 in Lincoln Co, Ga. Mary Isabella died 12 May 1895. Both are buried in Maddox/Johnson Cemetery, Lincolnton, GA, 4 1/2 mi on Hwy 47, going towards Augusta. Graves are marked. James served in the Confederate Army. Children are Martin Mayhill Conner, Roanna Elnora (Tebeau), Sophie Elizabeth (Crawford), John Gordon Conner.
There is also a James Conner from SC who is a different "set of dogs."
Also, there is a General James Conner who was from SC who led a Brigade in Lee's Army. I have a photo of him.
I just wish I had a picture of the James and Mary Isabells Conner tombstones in Lincolnton. There're 150 miles away from me.
