I have traced my family history back to my grandfather's great-grandfather, who's name was Nelson Conner, born in Leesburg, VA circa 1818. Nelson moved to Franklin County PA in his adult life, became a shoemaker, and enlisted in the Army in March of 1862, dying at Gettysburg a little over a year later. Based on the 1850 census we have surmised that Nelson's mother was named Elizabeth Conner (married name) and she was also born in Virginia, circa 1787. Because Elizabeth at age 63 and two other women Nelson's age (presumably his sisters) had moved into Nelson's household in 1850 we assume that Nelson's father (Elizabeth's husband) must have died. At this point we've hit a dead-end. We found some VA marriage records for Elizabeth Conners that would be approximately the correct age, but have no definitive evidence to prove they are the same Elizabeth, mother to Nelson. I wanted to ask whether anyone had ever come across this particular Nelson, or an Elizabeth that married into the Conner family (being born around 1787) and had a child named Nelson (b. circa 1818) or may have had daughters Catharine and/or Elenor in the late eighteen-teens in VA, probably Loudon County. Thanks in advance! Andy Conner Baltimore, MD Notify Administrator about this message?
