In Reply to: Jacob Conner (1776-?) NC by T.C. Cowart, Jr. of 4196

Jacob Conner, born in 1766, probably, the first of the Conners to move to North Carolina, married Massey Swearingen, or Elizabeth Massey Swearingen. Massey Swearingen Conner died in in Buncombe County, and afterwards, in 1846, when Jacob was more than 80 years of age, he moved into Jackson County, to the farm on highway NO. 10. (a portion of which is now occupied by the new Woolworth hunting lodge) which was known in the old days as Conner`s Cove. Jacob`s children, for the most part, married among the "Lufty" families, or moved over there and afterwards married.
