Brian,
Rose was my g-grandmother, the child baptised in 1898 was my grandmother. If census is right, Rose would have been about 36 in 1898. My grandparents were also from a rural area, the town of Cootehill in County Cavan, both brought up on farms.
The only other Connolly reference I have is my grandmother, whose name was Mary Anne Sheridan, comming to the US to live with Connolly cousins in Rhode Island (this is all word of mouth as well),
Anything ring any bells with your family lore? I will write to aunts to question the names you mention.
