Has anyone found a reason for changing the spelling of Connelly to Connolly. My grandfather was not illiterate, but specifically changed the spelling. He was born Thomas Connelly,son of John P Connelly and Clara Sellina Berriman, in 1878 at Clarencetown New South Wales, Australia.
My mother was never told why, but he was very determined about it.
