Your James Connell is James Endleman Connell, III, son of James Endleman Connell, Jr. and Sarah Reeves (dau. of Drury Reeves, RS). James III was b. 1795 in SC and moved with the family to GA in 1832. He m. Margaret Anna Thornhill, b. 3-4-1810, d. 6-10-1885; both are buried in Connell Cemetary near Whigham, GA. They had 11 children: William Timmons, Martha Jane, Byron Hugh, Isaac Manley, Sarah Louisia, Mary Margaret, Thomas F., Rufus Alexander, James Endleman IV, Marian J., and Maria A. The first four were b. in Darlington District, SC, the next three were b. in Lowndes Co., GA, and the last four were b. in Jefferson Co., FL.
"Elder James Endleman Connell III was ordained a Baptist preacher in 1823 in Darlington District SC. He preached 35 years before he died in 1853 at Whigham, GA, serving churches in Jefferson and Gadsden Co., FL, also Brooks and Decatur Co., GA. He also served Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church about 5 miles SW of Quitman, GA. ..."
This information came from "Record of Connell-Morris and Allied Families," by Robert H. McMillan, Jr. of Tifton, GA. I have misplaced his address but I bought my copy of the book about 2 years ago and I believe he may still have copies, abt. $43 with shipping.
