Hello there James. You don't know me but we could be related down the line somewhere. I've been doing my family tree for a while now. I'm am 43 years of age and live in Perth Australia. I am a fifth generation Australian. The first Connell in my line was a Denis Connell who was transported as a convict here. He was from Dromtariff in County Cork. He was a weaver there and was found guilty of stealing clothing from his employer and transported to Australia as a convict for 7 years. He arrived on a ship the "Phoebe Dunbar" in 1853. When he was released he married a Julia Leahy and had 8 children. He eventually comitted suicide in 1887 by shooting himself in the head. And have a copy of the actual police constables statement and coroners report. I don't know whether your family ties are from that part of Ireland originally but would be interested to know. I find geneology a interesting subject and like to hear the stories. I have also other ties with a family called Veale from South Amboy, NJ who are intermingled somehow by marriage into the Connell family here. I could go on and on but if you want further information on us Connells hereplease let me know and I will email it to you. Hope to hear from you soon, till then greetings from Australia.
