Robert Smith Connell is my gggdad. He also had Maria Walker as a wife and she shows up in the 1860 census as the one in the household He had a son named Robert Smith Connell (b. abt. 1846) as well as Grandson named Robert Smith connell. In any case, his son's nickname, after travelling to Prescott, Arizona, was Arkansas. This resulted in his son's autobiography being titled "Arkansas". That book says that the man you asked about was born on the Peedee (Also "Pedee" and "Pee Dee") river in South Carolina. The 1860 Census has him at Cypress Township, AR and has him originating in Virginia. The Peedee river is close to Darlington and Florence. Supposedly, in 1804, a William Connell married a widowed Susannah Pettigrew. See page 6 at http://www.scribd.com/doc/11097901/Darling-Ton-Jan-09 To make things interesting, there was courthouse fire in Darlington in 1806. Many records were lost. There is a Connell's Point community in AR that seems to fit the location in the book. That community is right on the border of Monroe and Phillips Counties. Now it's my turn. Do you have info on a Maria Walker that married Robert Connell about 1833 in Kentucky or Tennessee? Art Notify Administrator about this message?
