I found your posting very interesting.

I have reached a dead end in my search for information on my greatgrandfather John McDermott . According to his marriage certificate he came from Lackagh Co Sligo ---- a townland on the Sligo/Boyle road
His father was also John
.According to his death certificate and census records he was born circa 1846.
My greatgrandfather John McDermott died in 1926. When he married in 1873 to left Lackagh and with his wife lived in Carrowkeel,Ballisodare Co.Sligo This "Carrowkeel" is in the civil parish of Kilmacowen and in the Church parish of St.John's RC Sligo town
