John H Connaway was the first child born to William J Connaway and Jane Ezell. He was born in 1834 at the family farm in the Spottsville area of Henderson Co, Ky. At the age of 30, John married Annie O Bennett. The marriage record states that John was residing in Daviess Co and working as a wagonmaker. John and Annie, age 22, married on December 22, 1864 at the home of G A Hazelwood (Gregory Hazelwood and Susan Sandefur. Annie was the daughter of Eliza Sandefur and Henry T Bennett.. She was born ~1842 in Kentucky. The 1870 Henderson census lists John Connaway, carpenter age 36 with Annie, age 28, and Henry J age 2. John and Annie had three more children over the next six years: John Waller Connaway ~1870, Eliza Jane Connaway 1872, and Nannie Connaway 1876.Annie died in childbirth but have not found a death record for her. At the age of 49, John married for the second time. On November 22, 1883 he married Nora Ward, age 23. John Connaway died March 30, 1909 at age 75. He died of “grippe” or influenza

C. Eliza Jane Connaway was born July 29, 1872 in Henderson. She married William David Sandefur, his second marriage, at the Henderson Co Courthouse on June 19, 1897. She became the stepmother to three children: Kitty O Sandefur, William Colemaneil Sandefur, and Alberta Sandefur. Their mother was Eliza Wilson who died in Paducah October 2, 1895 of “dropsy.”William David Sandefur is the son of William H Sandefur and Sarah Ann Taylor, both of Henderson. He was born in 1857. Will and Eliza Jane had five additional children of their own: Lewis Sandefur , William David Sandefur Jr., Sarah Ann Sandefur, Robert Burns Sandefur, and Grace Amelia Sandefur. Eliza Jane and Will moved to Nashville, Davidson Co, TNEliza Jane died July 13, 1922 of uteran cancer, age 50. She is buried at SpringHill Cemetery in Nashville
D. Nannie Connaway married J T Campbell, his second marriage. She became the stepmother to Elizabeth Campbell, but Nannie and JT never had any children of their own. J T Campbell was a Mason at the Jerusalem Lodge in Henderson. After his death, Nannie was “received as a widow” at the Masonic Home in Masonic Home, KY (Louisville). She stayed there until her death November 5, 1961.
I have info on all 12 children of Willliam J Connaway and Jane Ezell. This is their oldest son and is my direct line.
